The Getty Villa

The day after visiting the Getty Center, we went to see the Getty Villa.  You need to make online reservations to visit this gem of a place.  It is modeled after a patrician villa in Roman times.

Exhibition rooms open from a central courtyard.

A side yard with two fountains.

The vivid colors of Roman houses and decorative painting is recreated along with the architecture.

The large reflecting pool in the colonnade-surrounded garden.

Fruit trees and herbs in the kitchen garden.

Etruscan bowl is one of the oldest artifacts in the museum. Loved the animal figures.

The visitor center and its modern pond is a recent addition to the villa grounds.
