Our story begins almost a year ago. It was late autumn 2013, when my friend Debbie first laid eyes on the property below, and she knew it was the one. She, a realtor, and her husband Brian, a contractor, have been looking for house to buy, renovate, and sell. Some call it "flipping". The house, located in breezy Kaneohe with gorgeous mountain views, has definitely seen better days. It was a fixer, however it had good bones, and a logical layout with no weird additions so many homes seem to be afflicted by.
The home needed some TLC both inside one out.
The orange kitchen had to go.
The entire bathroom was gutted too.
The back covered lanai had an ancient pool table.
Here you can see the covered lanai which where at the beginning of the construction a lot of the materials and tools were kept.
The orange cabinetry gone, the area of the new kitchen is starting to take shape.
Since the house had three bedrooms but only one bath, plans were drawn up to enlarge the master bedroom and add a master bath, and also to enclose the lanai. The construction took about four months. Debbie and I were in charge of picking out the finishes: flooring, cabinetry, tiles, granite, paint colors, lighting and appliances. It was a fun project! Next up, I will show you some more construction pictures and of course in the final installment the finished home.
